Absinthe Lounge

Who: Absinthe Lounge
What: Venue Profile
Where: 116 George St., Hess Village, Hamilton
When: open 7 days a week

Hess Village season is just peaking over the hill and with the new season the Village gets a brand new resident...one that's welcomed with a breath of fresh air. Along with them, they brought the classic hospitality & entertainment that made their 233 King St. East location a true staple in this city.

Absinthe, Hamilton's bar that gave "cool" a make-over and redefinition. A place known for its cutting edge fashion, counter culture appeal, and absolute wildness now has a second location, Absinthe Lounge.

So what sets the 233 King St. East & the 116 George St. location apart? "We're not trying to be a club with the 2nd location" says Marco. "We're giving our loyal clients and staff a chance to get some fresh air on our patio, and still enjoy our vibe." He adjusts his glasses. "Call it Absinthe summer camp" capped with a good hearted chuckle.

Cozy inside and a fair amount of patio real-estate, you might ask where the bands are setting up. Here and there you'll catch an acoustic band play a set, but mostly be hearing a variety of musical genres played from any given local dj. Marco was very enthusiastic about opening the decks to upcoming new djs, whether it's rock, retro, disco, funk, or whatever.

You'll still get to wild out at one of their signature nights. Adam Burchill (aka MC Uncle Buck), your party maestro hosts every Saturday night "I Say Disco, You Say Punk...The Summer Experience". Very few can maintain Uncle Buck's level of chaos. "Partying is serious business.  My parties are all about forgetting real life for a few hours. It's all about the characters" says Adam with a sense of duty.

Open 7 nights a week, you can lounge on the patio with Billy P, Adam, Jeremy & the rest of the crew.

And yes, they will be serving Absinthe.

The first thing I did when I returned to the States was to call on Rachel. Her mother answered the door. Rachel no longer lived there. She had married a medical student she’d met in college. “I thought she wrote you,” her mother said.
