Owen Thomas VS Tommy Outlaw - Koi 3rd Floor - Feb. 12th 2010

This 2 part mix starts off with some relaxed, grooving tech-house with a touch of drums. The set begins right when the club opened at 10pm and sounded perfect for an early room with people slowly trickling in. The first part ends with a CD jamming in the player!!! (cut out to save your ears) The second part of the mix starts slightly later in the evening kicking off with a few thumpers. The groove keeps going, but changes to a slightly more electro sound by the end of the mix.

A few long time friends were in attendance, so we pulled out a ton of old electro tracks from 2005/2006 (funny how 4 years is "old" with Dance music).

The mixing in this set is pretty smooth, with nice long layered transitions. Unintentionally, saxophones seem to be a common sound throughout. My favorite is the ultra-sleazy sax in track #2 "Luis Conte". It sneaks in unnoticed and feels taboo once it's cranks up a bit. The upbeat, staccato flow of  "Yemba" is a party rocker, for sure.

A great mix to throw on while getting ready for your night out. Nothing too hard and heavy, but some solid jams to wet your pallet for later.
