Red Foo and Sky Blu are the uncle/nephew due making LMFAO. This hip-hop/electro cross breed has been in the earlobes of anyone who puts on the radio with their massive hit "I'm in Miami Trick".
What is Party Rock?
LMFAO consists of two party animals, and party rock is um the name of our album, the name of our clothing line, the name of our record label, and the name of our genre of music. It's basically what we stand for. It's just to rock a party you know?
Tell us about the new album being released on July 7th.
Well, you can definitely expect all up tempo music. You know like an album you play front to back, back to front. You know the DJ can leave it on and he can go in the back and take a girl in the back and get busy you know? It will enlighten the experience (because) it's not going to switch tempos on you. Sometime you put some itunes on and you've got some up-tempo stuff and then you've got some Johnny Gill, and then you've got to leave your stroke and get up and change the play list. With this album you will get a good 50 minutes to an hour of stroking
The clothing line, what's your role? Do you guys do most of the design work or are you guys holed up with in the attic with knitting needles and pumping out cardigans?
It started off with the knitting machine...what is it? a sewing machine?
Red Foo - It's technical term. It's called a sewing machine.
I wanted to make a statement: Not only can we create music we can create our own clothes. The next thing we bought was a box of wood, to make a deck and to make a sword, a device to kill vampires. So we started designing everything and now were drenched head to toe in our own clothing line. We sell it at www.partyrocklife.com.
Do either of you guys wear contact lenses or had lasic eye surgery?
Our eyes are x-ray already. That's why we don't put on lenses cause when we put on lenses it kills the x-ray. So we have to wear glasses with no lenses. Then we continue to see thru you know ladies blouses and things of that nature.
Ya, that makes sense. I mean, some people wear glasses to enhance their vision and with you guys the lenses are taking away from your enhanced vision right?
Exactly! We created glasses so it's a level playing field.
What's the dig with putting stickers on peoples backs?
We started this in the airport. We wanted to come up with a game cause we always come up with games. That's one of the biggest things with us. It's a party you know so its fun. So were in the airport were getting ready to go to like Kingston or something, we're in the line to get some burritos, and they dared me. And the joy we got from that, seeing this middle aged white man walking around with "I'm in Miami bitch LMFAO" on his back was so great that we came up with this game. We call it "Got em' coach". The term comes from you know when you play football and you juke a player and touchdown, "Got em' coach!"
You guys have gained fame from viral marketing. Was it something that you studied or just happened?
Well you know what we studied? We studied naked ladies on the internet. I don't think we knew were studying porn. But we figured out, was that if you've got "the sexy", all you've got to do is post it up. So we just made some sexy youtubes. We did a couple of youtube videos where we were naked. Naked twister, the original miami video, go find it. Its a shot at real naked twister. It has over a million hits on you tube.
You guys have some pretty entertaining methods of picking up ladies and they all seem to work. Do you have any advice for the dudes out there?
Definitely. When you try and pick up the lady woman you got to be able to have a hip thrust, to show off your skills. If you're in the club and your hips look weak, you know your bobbing and weaving to the song and stuff but it's just kind of weak, the girls pick up on that. You've got to have a strong thrust, so I suggest all the guys out there to in the privacy of their home get on your back and do so "thrust ups" with their waist line.
Red Foo - Ya, and sometimes you bring a girl back to the house and maybe you want to start the drinking but you don't know how to do it smoothly, like want to get drunk? You know you can't really say that. So you say "Hey, I've got an idea, lets listen to this song Shots by LMFAO." Then you play shots and go "Oh wait a second, wait a second, we should get some shots for real." Then you poor some shots. Then you say "Oh the second corus is coming up. We've got to have some shots. This is crazy. We're crazy."
So in a nutshell, your music will get guys laid? Buy your album, and get a girl back to your house, and just put on your album and, and your getting laid.
In a nut shell no pun intended.
What can we expect from your guys live show? I've seen some video's and you have some really high energy. Do you guys look to just guys look to reproduce the cd live or is your cd's more of a reproduction of your live show?
I would say it's a mixture of both. I would say that our live show builds the cd, and we build the songs to sing them live.
You will definitely see the masters at the hip thrust. We are grand masters. We have a black belt in the hip thrusting. So all the ladies be warned. You will see us taking shots you know in celebration of a current event. That's definitely a thing you will see...and maybe some body parts.
Maybe some body parts?
Oh ya, some crowd surfing. It's just a party vibe. I mean the thing is, a lot of people that perform kind of like to have a space between them and the people. You know what I mean? We like the people to be around us. We like to party with the people. You know what I'm saying? We want to perform with the people. Not to the people, with the people.
