The start of summer usually marks the beginning of people trying to get into shape to have that perfect bathing suit body. While heading out to the gym is fine for the first little while, some tend to loose focus. That's where Cardio Core Boot camp moves in.
Cardio Core Boot camp is a customized fitness program that has recently popped up on the Hamilton Mountain. The program is designed to work on circuit training, strength training, balance and flexibility.
"The program is four weeks long. People who can choose to come between two and three days a week. It's for beginners to advanced athletes," said Hamilton Mountain franchise owner Stephanie Marson.
The program is for beginners, intermediates and advanced learners allowing anyone to possibility to participate.
"The results that you see from this type of training are so much better than just going to the gym for an hour or doing something on your own. It's almost like a personal training session,"
Stephanie is the main personal trainer for the Hamilton Mountain franchise. She has had years of experience as a trained gymnast up until the age of 15 when she broke her ankle training in high school
"I was training 25 hours a week. When I broke my ankle really bad, I was off completely for a good year. When you take that much time off, your body changes so much at that time. In order to go back to the level I use to be at, I would have had to re-learn all my skills," said Marson.
"I was getting a lot older and it was time for a change. My gymnastics coach was got me into fitness competitions."
In her years of fitness competitions, Stephanie has won Miss Junior Fitness Canada and Miss Fitness International. She has competed in Miss Fitness America and Miss Fitness Canada as well.
Her participation in competitions led her to take Recreation and Leisure at Mohawk College. She then went back for a Marketing program in order to prepare herself for the next step in her life.
"I always said to myself that I want to own my own business in the fitness industry and that I wanted to help others learn what I've learned and live the way that I've learned to live."
That chance presented itself to Stephanie while working at the Cardio Core in Burlington.
"I thought to myself it is a big step but I am ready to take it," said Marson.
"I rent out different facilities all across Hamilton Mountain including Huntington Park Recreation Centre and Valley Park Community Centre."
Since it's opening in Hamilton of January of this year enrollment has tripled from its original ten members.
Stephanie's next goal is to expand into other parts of Ontario. She really feels that there is no better way to work out than getting involved in Cardio Core Boot camp.
"You'll never get bored like you would at the gym. And because you are enjoying it, you are going to see some amazing results. You need to push yourself. But afterwards you feel so good. It is a stress relief, and you get an energy boost. It is something nice to do for yourself."
